Doing the Same Things Differently In Different Places

Welcome to our blog. This is the story of Claude and Sandy Speed as they embark on their latest RV adventure. They have been “camping” in many different rigs, ranging from tents and pop-ups through travel trailers, a fifth wheel, and a diesel pusher motorhome. On a recent road trip from Norfolk VA to southern LA in their Chevy Tahoe, they decided it was time to do a little traveling with a loosely described destination and time frame. So, having lived aboard boats for the last 5 years, they decided to make some land cruises in a more minimal fashion. Hence, the small, 18 ft. travel trailer.  It contains a queen-size bed, dinette, tiny kitchen, and a bath – all the comforts of home in one small room that Claude characterizes as a Japanese hotel room.  We also bought a 2012 Silverado to provide a stronger platform to tow across the Rocky Mountains in our planned 2022 trip to Seattle Washington to visit friends.

The objective is to travel to Thibodaux LA for Sandy’s niece’s (Amber) wedding, continuing to Beaumont TX to visit Claude’s cousin, Pensacola FL to visit Cathy, an old family friend, and then to Northern VA to spend Christmas with son Paul’s family. Along the way, they plan to re-visit some memories and places of interest from trips they made 50 years ago.
